Mission Statement At Peter Pan we strive to provide an atmosphere:
Goal Our goal is to provide meaningful experiences that will prepare the child for later school years. Materials are provided so the children can learn at their own developmental pace, through interaction with the other children and understanding adults. Activities include art, music, dramatic play, science, language, mathematics, and gross motor. Curriculum The curriculum is formulated with an underlying structure. In this way, the needs of various children are met successfully. It provides an atmosphere for developing the child's self-concept. The child becomes aware that they are a special individual and worth liking. The younger and older children are encouraged to play together. In this way, the younger ones learn from the older and their presence leads the older ones to help them. It is also realized that the little ones need quiet and leisure and closer contact with the teacher part of the time. The older children need opportunties for intellectual experiments which would be hampered by the constant presence of the younger ones. Thus we do separate by age groups, getting together part of the time for similar activities. Chapel A chapel program is offered twice a month. Because we realize that there are different communites of faith represented in the population of the preschool, chapel time is a non-denominational program. Chapel time supports the children as they discover for themselves the art of faith language to help them express what is already happening in their lives. Although not a requirement, we find that the families that participate really enjoy the program. Chapel is held in the church with the teachers attending with the children. Family members are invited to join as well. 399 Gregory Lane Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 Tel: (925) 685-2275 E-mail: office@peterpanpreschool.org Designed by The Web Wizardry |
